Guðný Guðmundsdóttir is the concertmaster of the Iceland
Symphony Orchestra and heads the violin department of the
Iceland Academy of the Arts. A number of Iceland s most outstanding
violinists have come from her class. In the past years Ms.
Guðmundsdóttir has, besides extensive concertising with the Iceland
Symphony Orchestra and other ensembles, appeared as a
soloist with orchestras in Mexico, Hong Kong and Puerto Rico.
She has also given recitals and performed chamber music in Israel,
Japan, China, in many European countries and the United States.
Ms. Guðmundsdóttir has made several recordings on Icelandic
labels. Guðny owns a violin and viola by Hans Johannsson.
